A pop-folk fanfare of toe-tapping melodies, soaring harmonies and happy high hopes; that’s the joy-evoking sound that Brisbane group, The Lighthearts bring to the stages and ears they grace.
The band were crowned the winners of Westfield’s Sound Search competition in 2015, as selected by Sony Music and the Westfield group. Following this success, they have gone on to play alongside some of the country’s finest acts including Cat Empire, Guy Sebastian, Busby Marou, Ash Grunwald, The Beautiful Girls and Birds of Tokyo; at hugely popular events including Caloundra Music Festival, Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers and Brisbane’s famous Caxton Street Festival.
Their hotly-anticipated debut (self-titled) EP, which includes the critically-acclaimed singles ‘Hold Back the Sun’ and ‘Your Man’, was the result of several months of writing and recording in the studio with ARIA-nominated producer Stuart Stuart (Sheppard, The Veronicas). Their new single, ‘Love Is Here To Stay’ also produced by Stuart, has been aired and added to rotation on commercial and community stations around the country including KIIS FM (NSW / VIC) and Red FM (WA). BMA Magazine described the song as “…a snappy pop tune delivered with conviction, candidness and a certain amount of smiling swagger”. The Sound Check echoed these praises by writing, “there’s a legitimate danger of actual sunshine bursting from the speakers as the jangly number kicks off; it’s all jaunty guitars, toe-tappin’ beats and smooth-as-silk vocals that lilt effortlessly over the driving pace.”
With more hit songs and shows on the way, the band are geared up for what will be their best year yet.
